Managing the evening - Notes for managers

The manager should ensure the smooth running of the whole evening. Failure by a club to manage on those evenings to which it is appointed, will lead to deduction of points from its league total.

The main functions of the manager are as follows:

1.   To man the table or bench at the half-way line

2.   To time the games in co-operation with the umpires

3.   To keep the score and record it at the end of each game

4.   To supervise suspended players and ensure discipline on the team benches. In cases of indiscipline involving a RED card the manager must submit a written report to the Indoor Secretary immediately. The umpires will also submit a report.

5.   To send the completed score sheet to the Indoor Secretary immediately by e-mail or first-class post.

In order to ensure that the evening may start promptly score boards should be collected from reception before 8p.m. They should be returned at the end of the evening. The manager should provide his own whistle and stop-watch.
