Upminster Hockey Club

Upminster Hockey Club is located in the borough of Havering, which sits on the border between Greater London and Essex.

We are easy to reach by public transport. Our home astro is at Coopers Company & Coborn School and our  Clubhouse is in Upminster park, and both are just 5 minutes walk from Upminster Station. Most travellers identify Upminster as being at 'the end of the district line'. This is true, but it is also served very well by the C2C mainline  service which runs between Southend and London Fenchurch Street Station. For those more local, the station can be reached using the 248 bus route from the Romford area or the 370 from the Chafford Hundred area.

We currently run 6 mens teams and 4 ladies teams, which are spread evenly across the East (ERHA) and Essex League Divisions. We are proud of this diversity of playing standard as it enables us to provide challenging and enjoyable hockey for the broadest range of playing ability. More specifically, at the end of season 2010-11:
- The Mens 1s consolidated on their promotion to Div 1 status in 2008-9 with a solid mid-table finish,
- the 2s held their slot in Div 3SE
- the 3s and 4s were sadly relegated to Divs 5SE and 6SE respectively, and
- the 5s and 6s were promoted to Divs 7SE and 8SE respectively.
As for the Ladies:

- The 1s finished 3rd in East League 1 South, narrowly missing out on promotion having only been promoted into that league the year before,
- the 2’s earned a hard fought promotion into the Essex Premier league, and
- the 3’s and 4’s both put in strong performances, providing an excellent development path for the youth of the
club.
The ladies are looking forward to the next year with an influx of new players to take them from strength to strength.

We also run mini hockey for those just starting out and it is possible to play in competition from U9 right through to U13, when players are eligible for senior league hockey.

We enter both mixed sex summer league and indoor hockey for senior male and female players, and we encourage all those who wish to travel to join us on our annual hockey tours - with the Isle of Man and Spain being destinations visited in recent years.

Whilst on the social front, our Easter 7s and Boxing Day tournaments held outside our clubhouse ensure that the sadly fading skills necessary for playing grass hockey are being preserved in Upminster.

We have qualified coaches for all levels of training (secondary school year 3 through to 1st XI's), and an active program to develop more coaches.

If you would like to join us at Upminster, we promise you a friendly welcome and the opportunity to play hockey at a range of levels covering the entire spectrum of "full-on competitive" to "full-on sociable" - for both genders and all age groups.
